Kansas City Chiefs 27, Baltimore Ravens 20

The Kansas City Chiefs started the NFL regular season on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium with an exciting 27-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivered another stellar performance, proving once again that he is the best quarterback in the NFL. Ultimately, Mahomes completed 18 of 26 passes for 279 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while taking three drops. His stats aren’t great, but the two-time MVP controlled the game and kept the Chiefs one step ahead.

Philadelphia Eagles 34, Green Bay Packers 29

The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers kicked off their 2024 season in historic fashion on Friday night, playing the first NFL game in South America.

In a hard-fought game where both teams had chances to win, the Eagles ultimately secured a 34-29 victory. Superstar running back Saquon Barkley stole the show in his Eagles debut, rushing for 132 yards from scrimmage and scoring three touchdowns in a game for the first time since his rookie year.

For the Packers, the 0-1 start may not have been the worst thing they could take away from their trip abroad, as franchise quarterback Jordan Love apparently suffered a lower body injury in the final seconds of the game and had to be led off the field.

Miami Dolphins 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 17

Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders kicked a 52-yard field goal as time expired to secure the 20-17 win in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for 336 yards and a touchdown and led Miami to its fourth consecutive season-opening victory with an eight-play, 31-yard drive in the final minutes.

Buffalo Bills 34, Arizona Cardinals 28

Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes in the second half to lead the Buffalo Bills to a 34-28 comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

The Bills defense sealed the win when Damar Hamlin and Ja’Marcus Ingram deflected Kyler Murray’s pass on fourth-and-7 attempts at Buffalo’s 29-yard line with 26 seconds left.

It was an exciting back and forth, which also saw the NFL’s first kickoff return with a touchdown under the new rules: Arizona’s DeeJay Dallas returned a kickoff 96 yards in the fourth quarter and reduced Buffalo’s lead to 31-28 with 8:31 minutes left.

Allen finished the game completing 18 of 23 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 39 rushing yards and two runs on the ground.

Pittsburgh Steelers 18, Atlanta Falcons 10

With Russell Wilson out with a calf injury, Justin Fields took the reins and led the Pittsburgh Steelers to an 18-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, with Chris Boswell’s outstanding kicking performance playing a big role.

Boswell scored six field goals – three of them from over 50 yards – while the Steelers defense made life extremely difficult for Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Minnesota Vikings 28, New York Giants 6

Sam Darnold delivered two touchdown passes in a strong debut for the Minnesota Vikings, helping his team to a dominant 28-6 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

A 22-yard pass to Josh Oliver set up a short touchdown run by Aaron Jones to open the scoring. Darnold then connected with Justin Jefferson for a 3-yard touchdown and later hit Jalen Nailor on a 21-yard pass to extend the lead. That gives the Vikings a solid foundation in their goal of rebounding from last season’s 7-10 finish.

Seattle Seahawks 26, Denver Broncos 20

The The Seattle Seahawks made it a memorable debut for Denver Broncos First round quarterback Bo Nixwho made a number of turnovers. The Seahawks allowed two interceptions and caught two more in their 26-20 win in Week 1.

Kenneth Walker IIIThe legs and sensational backend coverage pushed Seattle forward and the score made the game seem much closer than it was.

Los Angeles Chargers 22, Las Vegas Raiders 10

Run back JK Dobbins‘ Return to the field after a torn Achilles tendon, in his first game with the Los Angeles Chargersproved to be the spark his new team needed. Dobbins ran for 135 yards and a touchdown while forcing four missed tackles.

Los Angeles relied on its 22-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 and opened head coach Jim Harbaugh’s account on a positive note.

Houston Texans 29, Indianapolis Colts 27

A battle between two of the NFL’s most promising young quarterbacks lived up to its reputation. Houston TexansCJ Stroud and the Indianapolis ColtsAnthony Richardson had their low points in this Week 1 game – a 29-27 win for the Texans – but their high points outweighed everything else.

Stroud committed three turnovers but finished the game with a strong adjusted completion percentage of 78.2%. Richardson, who returned to the regular season in 2023 after a season-ending injury, completed two of his 20-plus yard pass attempts for 117 yards and a score, but had some issues with accuracy.

New Orleans Saints 47, Carolina Panthers 10

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Younglast year’s No. 1 overall pick, continues to look anything but good. The New Orleans Saints took advantage of that, along with a porous defense, to crush the Panthers 47-10 in Week 1.

Young was responsible for two turnover-worthy plays and posted only an adjusted completion percentage of 48.3%. He was under a lot of pressure – much of it coming from the perimeter defenders. Follow Jung – but it was another lackluster performance for a player who came into the league with very high potential.

Meanwhile, the Saints offense and Derek Carr were in top form, showing outstanding performances throughout the unit.

Chicago Bears 24, Tennessee Titans 17

The Chicago BearsIn quarterback Caleb Williams‘ NFL debut, scored 24 unanswered points and beat the Tennessee Titans in week 1.

Williams was far from perfect, but the Bears’ defense and special teams stepped up, scoring 14 points to weaken the Titans’ offense, which had built an early lead thanks to the free agent running back. Tony Pollard.

New England Patriots 16, Cincinnati Bengals 10

The Cincinnati Bengals went into halftime with a score of zero against the New England Patriotswhich many thought would be one of the weakest teams in the NFL this season.

The Bengals fought back and reduced the deficit in the second half, but self-inflicted weaknesses and courageous tackling by the Patriots prevented them from stealing Jerod Mayo’s first victory as New England coach: an overwhelming 16-10 upset victory in Week 1.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37, Washington Commanders 20

All eyes were on rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels in this matchup, but it was Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield who stole the show, leading his team to a 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 1.

Mayfield was in good form throughout, completing 23 of 29 passes for 257 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. He threw a great throw and avoided all the turnovers that would have required a turnover.

However, Daniels had a remarkable debut: He became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 80 yards and score two rushing touchdowns in his first career start.

Dallas Cowboys 33, Cleveland Browns 17

Dak Prescott made his Super Bowl intentions clear just hours after signing a four-year, $240 million contract as the Dallas Cowboys dominated the Cleveland Browns 33-17 in their season opener.

Prescott’s new contract, which makes him the first player to earn an average annual salary of $60 million, ends months of speculation about his future in Dallas, a team he led to 12 wins for three straight seasons.

Prescott finished the game completing 19 of 32 passes for 179 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown to Brandin Cooks in the first quarter. The Cowboys extended their lead to 27-3 early in the third quarter thanks in part to KaVontae Turpin’s 60-yard punt return touchdown and four long field goals by Brandon Aubrey (57, 50, 46 and 40 yards). Ezekiel Elliott scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown to cap off a strong offensive performance.

On the other hand, Deshaun Watson struggled in his return for Cleveland, playing in his first game since injuring his shoulder last November. Watson was sacked six times, threw two interceptions and never found his rhythm as the Dallas defense kept a tight grip on his receivers.

Detroit Lions 26, Los Angeles Rams 20

The Detroit Lions fought to the end and prevailed despite a strong performance from Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. David Montgomery’s overtime touchdown secured them a 26-20 victory in Week 1 at Ford Field.

Despite leading 17-10 in the fourth quarter, the Lions allowed 10 unanswered points and fell behind at the end. However, a timely field goal forced overtime, where they sealed the victory with a touchdown on the opening drive.
