NFIB releases new ad in Iowa calling on Congress to stop massive tax hikes on small businesses

New radio spot in Iowa is NFIB’s latest initiative to call on Congress to make the 20% small business tax deduction permanent

The National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB)the nation’s leading small business advocacy group, announced a new statewide paid advertising campaign in Iowa that includes a radio spot urging members of Congress to support the massive tax increase on small businesses by passing the Main Street Tax Certainty Act to make the 20% small business deduction permanent.

“Small businesses are the foundation of our economy, yet more than 30 million of them face a massive tax increase that would impact their ability to create jobs and give back to their communities,” said NFIB President Brad Close“The sudden elimination of tax savings will decimate America’s small businesses, which have used the 20% small business tax credit to overcome significant hurdles such as inflation, staff shortages and supply chain disruptions. The Main Street Tax Certainty Act would make the 20% small business tax credit permanent and avoid a massive tax increase for nine out of 10 small businesses. Congress must now pass the Main Street Tax Certainty Act to level the playing field and keep small businesses competitive.”

“The Main Street Tax Certainty Act is critical for Iowa’s small businesses,” said NFIB Country Director Matt Everson“This bill would make the 20% small business tax deduction permanent and prevent a significant tax increase that could hinder our state’s economic growth. It is critical that Congress pass this bill and provide our local small business owners with the support they need.”

The 20% small business deduction was introduced as part of the 2017 tax law to level the playing field between small businesses and large corporations. It has helped small business owners overcome the economic challenges of recent years – but it expires at the end of 2025. Main Street Tax Certainty Act would make the 20% small business deduction permanent and avoid a massive tax increase for the majority of American small businesses.
