NFIB Arizona warns of expiration of tax relief for small businesses

NFIB Arizona calls on Congress to stop the massive tax increase on small businesses.

PHOENIX (20 August 2024) – In a conversation with Arizona’s family Steven Sarabia, NFIB Country Director Chad Heinrich warned that if Congress did not act, the 20 percent small business tax deduction would expire in 2025, resulting in a massive tax increase for Arizona’s job creators.

“It’s critical that this provision be made permanent,” Heinrich said. “Most (small business owners) said they hired employees and bought equipment. They used the tax savings to grow their business. This would likely be the largest tax increase on small businesses in decades.”

Background:

The 20% small business deduction was introduced as part of the 2017 tax law to level the playing field between small businesses and large corporations. It has helped small business owners overcome the economic challenges of recent years – but it expires at the end of 2025. Main Street Tax Certainty Act would make the 20% small business tax deduction permanent and avoid a massive tax increase for the majority of America’s small businesses.
