How are the Patriots doing in warmups? — 12:35 p.m

By Christopher Price

The Patriots OL in warmups are as follows:

LT: Lowe, LG: Jordan, C: Brown, RG: Robinson, RT: Onwenu

New cast! Robinson returns and starts on the right side. Onwenu returns to right tackle.

It’s not a huge surprise, but Ben Brown is working with Maye during the warm-up, which is certainly a sign that Maye is ready to go today.

Pop Douglas and Marcus Jones work as punt returners during warmups. Bolden, Polk, Baker, Boutte, Hasty and Gibson work as kick returners.

Globe Staff Predictions – 12:30 p.m

Christopher Price: Patriots 24, Titans 20. In his return, Drake Maye leads them to victory with two touchdown passes, and the Patriots win two games in a row for the first time in about two years.

Nicole Yang: Patriots 27, Titans 24. Thanks to a two-touchdown performance from Drake Maye and a defensive score, the Patriots get their third win of the season.

Ben Volin: Patriots 24, Titans 19. So close that the Patriots need to win a game that will come against many weaker opponents than the Titans the rest of the year. The Patriots defense will keep Mason Rudolph out of the end zone for most of the day, and Drake Maye returns to the lineup to throw two touchdowns and run for another.

Dan Shaughnessy: Patriots 21, Titans 10. We love the Drake. Pats jump to second place in the AFC East. Too early to talk about wild cards?

Globe Team Players to Watch – 12:00 p.m

Here’s who Globe reporters are keeping an eye on.

Patriots

Everyone will be watching Drake Mayeand for good reason. But it will also be important to keep an eye on the young receivers who are particularly active today Kayshon Boutte. (KJ Osborn and Tyquan Thornton are out this afternoon.) Boutte had some big catches against the Jets last week, but was also among a group of receivers who had several drops. Jerod Mayo made it clear that he was not satisfied with the wide receivers’ performance in terms of ball security. It will be interesting to see if his message resonates with Boutte and others this week. — Christopher Price

The defense. The Titans have the largest turnover differential in the league, so I expect New England’s defense to be able to force some losses this season. — Nicole Yang

Yes’Lynn Polk. He is back in the squad after missing last week’s game due to a concussion. And the Titans’ secondary will be tight this week without CB L’Jarius Sneed. Polk had a rough start to his career, with just 10 catches on 23 targets for 78 yards. With KJ Osborn and Tyquan Thornton both healthy scratches today, look for Drake Maye and the Patriots to try to get Polk going by throwing him a few targeted passes. — Ben Volin

Titans

Tony Pollard. The fullback, who has done most of the damage on the ground for Tennessee this season (494 rushing yards, 4.3 yards per carry), has struggled with foot issues of late. But opposing defenders have taken a toll on the Patriots’ run defense lately. New England’s defense bounced back last week against the Jets; Let’s see if we can get the arrow pointing in the right direction against Tennessee today. — Christopher Price

Calvin Ridley. Ridley had 10 catches and 143 yards last year, the highlight of an otherwise quiet season. The Patriots pursued Ridley this offseason, but he ultimately decided to sign with Tennessee for more money and the opportunity to stay in the South. We’ll see if Ridley, who will likely face Christian Gonzalez, can build on his performance from last week. — Nicole Yang

Jeffery Simmons. His stats this year aren’t exactly stellar, with just two sacks, a forced fumble and 21 tackles in six games. But Simmons is still one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the NFL and could be a handful for Patriots center Ben Brown, who is making his fourth consecutive start. — Ben Volin

Who is inactive for the Titans? — 11:45 a.m

Quarterback Will Levis is among the Titans’ inactives, meaning Mason Rudolph will be the starter on Sunday. Also inactive for Tennessee: running back Tyjae Spears, corners Tre Avery and L’Jarius Sneed, linebacker Cedric Gray, offensive lineman Dillon Radunz and tight end David Martin-Robinson.

Who is inactive for the Patriots? — 11:30 a.m

By Christopher Price

The Patriots just announced their inactives for today’s game. Here’s a list of who will be out and what that means.

Veteran safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) missed last week’s win over the Jets and will miss again today. The Patriots got good support on the back end last week from a variety of defensive backs, including rookie Dell Pettus. As a result, Pettus may have more work to do today

Defensive tackle Eric Johnson is a healthy signing, which means Daniel Ekuale – who has been dealing with abdominal issues in recent weeks – is back in the lineup. Plus, it’s not exactly a one-for-one move, but the presence of Jaquelin Roy has given New England a big boost at the top in recent weeks. Roy will likely be one of several people the Patriots will lean on with Johnson gone.

Two notable scratches when it comes to receivers. KJ Osborn, who has been the subject of trade rumors, is a healthy scratch for New England this afternoon. With Tuesday’s deadline approaching, he’s certainly someone to keep an eye on until then. And wide receiver Tyquan Thornton, who was on the injury report (and limited) with an ankle injury, also won’t play. It wouldn’t be a surprise if one – or both – weren’t there when the deadline passed.

And Joe Milton III is the emergency quarterback.

Among the notable active players today is quarterback Drake Maye, who completed concussion protocol over the weekend after suffering a head injury against the Jets last week. Additionally, Ja’Lynn Polk, who suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the Jaguars in London, is back in action for the first time since that game. Additionally, Alex Austin is back to provide some depth at corner.

More on Drake Maye’s concussion recovery protocol – 11:20 a.m

By Nicole Yang

The Patriots announced Saturday that quarterback Drake Maye has passed concussion protocol and will be eligible to play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

The Patriots initially listed Maye as questionable because he had limited practice participation throughout the week. But coach Jerod Mayo indicated Friday that there was still a chance for Maye to start Sunday. The Patriots simply needed clearance from medical professionals.

“Once he comes out of the protocol, I think we feel like he’s been cleared by the medical community,” Mayo said. “He’ll be ready to go.”

Maye entered the protocol after suffering a head injury in the first quarter of last Sunday’s win over the Jets. He remained on the field to finish the drive, but then entered the blue medical tent on the sideline, visited the locker room and did not return to the field.

The league fined Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood $6,354 for unnecessary harshness in the hit that gave Maye a concussion. The officials did not throw a flag on the play, although Sherwood’s helmet hit Maye’s.

Can the Patriots run defense continue to hold the line against the Titans? — 10:45 a.m

By Christopher Price

Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux gave a candid assessment of the team’s run defense against the Jets last Sunday, saying the reason for their success — in contrast to the struggles of previous weeks — is that they “have that Cute (expletive) left out” and got back to basics.

When asked for their thoughts on Godchaux’s opinion on Thursday, New England’s defensive assistants took a different approach, instead praising the front seven’s ability to perform.

“To me, we really performed,” defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington said. “We talked last week about how this is a fundamentally solid, consistent football (team).

“And we also talked about how it’s really not about words, it’s about actions, and that’s how I see it too. It doesn’t matter what you say. It’s about what you do and how you do it. How well you play and what you show on the field.”

Unconventional Preview: The Patriots have a real chance on Sunday against the Titans – 10:30 a.m

By Chad Finn

Enjoy this scenario as much as you can, Patriots fans. Because Sunday’s away game against the Titans could be the last time this season that Jerod Mayo’s team goes into a game with more wins than their opponents.

The Titans have a rookie head coach himself in Brian Callahan, the former Bengals offensive coordinator who was hired to replace an excellent coach in Mike Vrabel, and things are not going well. The Titans have one win – a 31-12 win over Tyler Huntley and the Dolphins in Week 4 – and lost their other six games, already suffering two straight three-game losses.
