New England Patriots rule out five players for game against Seahawks

The New England Patriots have announced their inactive players for their Week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks, ruling out five players.

As the team announced, offensive guard Sidy Sow, wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, quarterback Joe Milton III, linebacker Curtis Jacobs and offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs will not be available for the game.

Sow is the only starter who will not play in this game, so the Patriots were pretty lucky in that regard.

Sow injured his ankle in the final preseason game and sat out New England’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, so his absence from the Seahawks is no surprise.

Otherwise it shouldn’t be a problem for the Pats.

The Patriots will be looking to build on their surprising success in the season opener, when they limited the Bengals’ powerful offense to just 10 points on the road.

It was a surprise win for the New England team that many considered the worst team in the NFL in 2024.

Of course, expectations should be tempered. The Pats have struggled on offense and, on paper, they still have one of the worst rosters in football.

Perhaps new head coach Jerod Mayo will continue to get the most out of his players as the season progresses, but for now, the Patriots’ key is to simply take it one step at a time.

New England finished just 4-13 last season, the club’s worst record since 1992. The miserable season led to the departure of Bill Belichick, ending his 24-year tenure with the franchise.

It’s a new day in Foxborough, and while this is clearly a bridge year for the Pats, they may still have a surprise or two in store the rest of the way.
