Netflix viewers issue ‘trigger warning’ as film with 100% on Rotten Tomatoes leaves fans sobbing

A new Netflix film has achieved an enviable score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes – but has not yet made it into the streaming service’s top 10 charts.

Daughtersa documentary about four inmates bonding with their daughters in prison was released on Netflix on August 14.

Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator website, has compiled over 50 reviews of the film, all of which are positive, giving it a rare “Fresh” rating of 100 percent.

Viewers praised the film on social media, with one person writing: “Don’t watch the film. Daughters Netflix documentary, unless you like crying.”

“Trigger warning! #Daughters on #Netflix will move you to tears!” warned another. “It’s a documentary that follows inmates and their families as they prepare for a father-daughter dance at a Washington, DC prison.”

Someone else commented: “Daughters on Netflix broke my heart. This should be mandatory viewing for men with daughters. There’s no way you can’t understand the pain you’re causing your children when you see this. I hope Aubrey learns to hope and love again. God bless these families.”

In January, the film was acquired by Netflix after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Actress Kerry Washington, who served as an executive producer on the film, shared a post on her birthday celebrating the news.

“Happy birthday to ME! I got the best birthday present in the world yesterday… Daughters is coming to Netflix!!!!” she wrote. “I am so excited for all the amazing people who worked to bring this beautiful project to life and for ALL of YOU who will now see it!!!!!”

Despite the applause for DaughtersHowever, the film has not yet made it into the Netflix charts.

The currently most-watched film in the British catalog of the streaming service is The Unionan original action thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry, which in comparison only achieved a measly score of 36 percent.

The film is about a construction worker from New Jersey whose life is turned upside down when he meets his high school sweetheart again after 20 years of separation.

Also in the top 10 charts is Cameron Diaz’s 2014 romantic comedy. The Damaged FriendsTrue crime documentary The murder of Air McNairand in-law comedy Why him?.

Daughters is now available to stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
