Netflix unveils the first trailer for The Electric State

After a few years of trying to tackle more grounded themes, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are back in the director’s chair for a bombastic genre fare. Before returning to Marvel to tackle the next couple avenger Movies they have The Electric State over at Netflix, which was shown properly for the first time at New York Comic-Con.

Based on the retrofuturistic graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag Stories from the loop, The film is set in an alternate version of 1994, after a years-long war between humanity and animatronic robots. “Stranger Things” Millie Bobby Brown plays Michelle, who has spent years searching for her lost brother (Woody Norman). Instead, he seems to have tracked her down, and has used his robot, Kid Cosmo, to take them to where he is hiding. Of course, it’s not as easy as it sounds, and the two must team up with Chris Pratt’s expert smuggler Keats and his own robot sidekick Herman (Anthony Mackie) to find their brother and figure out why he disappeared in the first place.

So the quartet travels through the post-apocalypse, visiting sights such as the exclusion zone where the robots went after the war ended in a stalemate. Along with the general build, the trailer shows us just how many robots there are left, and the answer is a lot: many are human-sized, but others are massive enough to carry RVs like they’re nothing or knock down their smaller mechanical brethren the air like flies. If you’ve ever wanted to see Mr. Peanut (voiced by Woody Harrelson) and Star-Lord take up arms against a derelict amusement park robot, then this is it The Electric State tries to provide you the solution.

Also with Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito and Ke Huy Quan. The Electric State will be released on Netflix on March 14th.
