Moton makes short work of Vazquez and scores KO in the first round – Boxing results

By Tim Compton – 25.08.2024 – Comments

Lightweight contender Curmel Moton (5-0, 4 KOs) destroyed Victor Vazquez (5-3-1) on Saturday night in a lightning-quick knockout in the first round of their scheduled six-round bout at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico.

Moton’s dominance

At the start of the fight, 18-year-old Moton stalked Vazquez in the ring, attacking him with power shots and jabs. The awkward-looking Vazquez attempted several hard punches but missed.

Moton then pushed him against the ropes and landed a powerful barrage of four punches that sent Vazquez hard to the mat.

The referee counted briefly and then waved off the game, although Vazquez appeared to have gotten up in time. It looked like the referee had decided to stop the game, but it was the right decision.

Vazquez seemed in no condition to continue. Not only because he was injured, but because he had no chance. He was completely outmatched by Monton and would have been knocked down immediately if the fight had continued.

The fight was stopped after 55 seconds of the first round. It would have been interesting if the referee had allowed the fight to continue.

Fans criticized Vazquez’s weak appearance on social media and felt that a better fighter should have been found for Moton.
