It’s a familiar weather pattern that continues this weekend with sunshine, intermittent showers, warm but almost seasonal temperatures and breezy to breezy conditions.

The initial high pressure system that sparked the strong winds earlier this week is finally breaking down over the western Atlantic, but a new high over the Midwest will move to a similar location next week, ushering in another bout of windy times. However, this time it will be strengthened by an extensive low pressure area over the western Caribbean Sea, which may eventually become a tropical system.

At least this weekend, the chance of rain locally will be highest on Saturday morning, before more sunshine and drier weather sets in in the afternoon.

On Sunday it will be a little windier and the humidity will be a little lower. Isolated showers are possible, especially in the later half of the day.

Temperatures will not change significantly early next week, while winds will increase by midweek. However, rain is becoming more likely as this potential tropical system moves into our southwest, according to the latest forecast predictions. This will funnel tropical moisture our way, resulting in a higher risk for temporary showers and isolated thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday.

That means a wet Election Day is becoming more and more likely.

Trope update

As previously mentioned, a widespread low pressure area is likely to develop into a tropical system over the next few days and there is an 80% chance of it developing. It is most likely to track toward Jamaica and Cuba and then turn more northwest toward the Gulf of Mexico. It’s still too early to determine exactly where this low pressure system will develop and how strong it will be, but South Florida is expected to experience at least some rain and gusty winds.

There is also a fault near Puerto Rico with a low probability of formation as it will eventually be absorbed by the Caribbean Sea system.

Finally, this Saturday morning, subtropical storm Patty formed over the North Atlantic. Patty will scout near the Azores before losing all tropical features next week.
