MLB achieves blockbuster TV ratings in all division series, best since 2017

October baseball is in full swing and fans seem to be fully engaged in the action.

The 2024 MLB postseason is achieving its best ratings in years, the league announced Monday. The Division Series alone drew an average of 3.564 million viewers, the highest since 2017 and a 14% increase from 2023.

Overall, postseason viewership is up 18% compared to this time last year. The average draw of 3.332 million is the highest since the league’s new playoff format was introduced in 2022.

Fox and FS1 broadcast the NLDS matchups between the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies as well as the heated showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. These contests drew 4.091 million viewers per game, good for Fox’s highest tally since MLB first broadcast playoff games on FS1 in 2014.

TBS also benefited from the increase in viewership, particularly during Game 5 of the ALDS on Saturday.

The winner-take-all contest between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians has been postponed to an earlier day due to predicted inclement weather. The game ended at 1:08 p.m. ET. It subsequently became the most-watched one-day Divisional Series game in 17 years.

TBS was also allowed to broadcast the games between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals.

The Yankees will face the Guardians in the ALCS beginning Monday, again on TBS. The Mets and Dodgers face off this week on FOX, with the NLCS already starting on Sunday.
