Mizzou WR Luther Burden III will be “pretty good” after leaving UMass game

This post will be updated as new developments regarding Burden’s status emerge.

Missouri Tigers star wide receiver Luther Burden III was forced to exit a Week 7 game against UMass due to injury.

Burden landed on his left arm after a UMass defensive back collided with him in mid-air on a high pass from quarterback Brady Cook on 1st-and-10 early in the third quarter.

Burden was slow to get to his feet before being evaluated by the trainers. He quickly entered the injury tent on the sideline. On the ESPN2 broadcast, he was seen on the sidelines grimacing and holding his left shoulder.

Early in the fourth quarter, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz told ESPN’s sideline reporter that Burden was “going to be just fine.”

The list of bad things that could happen to the No. 21 Missouri Tigers on the road was pretty low. They were favorites over UMass by four touchdowns. But their top playmaker suffering an injury of any kind is at the top of that list.

After being examined in the medical tent, Burden remained on the sidelines and was examined by a trainer on the medical table.

Burden was dominant in the first three quarters before leaving the game. He totaled seven touchdowns for 127 yards and one touchdown. On the second play from scrimmage, he scored a 61-yard rushing touchdown.

Outside of Burden, running back Marcus Carroll was the star of the Missouri offense. The Georgia State transfer scored three touchdowns in the first 35 minutes of the game, marking the fourth hat trick of his career.
