Michael Jackson’s children Paris and Prince react to the death of Uncle Tito

Michael Jackson’s children Paris and Prince paid tribute to his brother Tito, who died at the age of 70.

Both siblings mourned their late uncle on Instagram on Monday, one day after he apparently died of a heart attack.

Paris, 26, shared an old photo of Tito and Michael in her IG story with the caption, “Rest in peace Uncle Tito ❤️.”

Prince, 27, posted a more recent photo of some members of the Jackson family, including his uncle Tito, his aunt La Toya Jackson and his grandmother Katherine Jackson.

“I love you forever Poppa T❤️,” Prince wrote in his caption.

TJ Jackson, one of Tito’s three sons, commented on the post: “He always spoke so highly of you, Prince, and was so proud of the man you had become and your love of family.”

“Thank you for being such a great nephew to him,” added TJ, 46.

In 2009, TJ became the legal guardian of Paris, Prince and their younger brother Bigi (formerly known as Blanket), 22, after Michael died at age 50. He retained that role until they all came of age.

“When (Michael) died, my brothers and I went to our grandmother and basically told her that however we can help, we want to be there for her,” TJ said on the “Black Hollywood Live” podcast in 2019.

“As she got older, she kind of gave it up and now I’m officially the sole guardian. She gave it up recently,” he added at the time.

The Jackson family suffered another tragedy over the weekend when Tito – the third of ten children of Katherine and Joe Jackson and a founding member of the Jackson 5 – passed away.

Former Jackson family manager Steve Manning told Entertainment Tonight that Tito suffered a heart attack on Sunday while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.

Police told the Daily Mail that Tito suffered the heart attack in a shopping mall in New Mexico.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead hours later.

TJ and his brothers Taj, 51, and Taryll, 49, confirmed their father’s death in a joint statement on their band 3T’s Instagram account.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us,” the siblings said.

“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being,” the statement continued. “Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson of the legendary Jackson 5, others know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or still others as ‘Poppa T.'”

“Nevertheless, we will miss him terribly,” the brothers added. “For us, it will always be ‘Tito time.’ Please remember to do what our father always preached, and that is ‘Love one another.’ We love you, Dad.”

Days before his death, Tito and his brothers were in Munich, where they attended a memorial service for Michael. The King of Pop died in June 2009 from acute propofol poisoning.

“We are deeply grateful for this special place that honors not only his memory but our shared heritage,” Tito wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for keeping his spirit alive.”
