Mexico ends seven games without a win against the USA with a 2-0 friendly win | USA

Raúl Jiménez scored a free kick in the 22nd minute and set up César Huerta’s goal in the 49th minute as Mexico snapped a seven-game winning streak with a 2-0 win against Mexico on Tuesday night in Mauricio Pochettino’s second game as American coach the USA ended.

Mexico has had five losses and two draws against the USA since September 2019.

With Christian Pulisic and several other starters missing, the U.S. had no shots in the first half for the first time since a meeting against El Tri in April 2023.

Jiménez fired a 25-yard shot past Matt Turner for his 34th international goal. Jiménez scored the second goal after he caught a through ball, had Tim Ream knock the ball away, they won the ball back from the defender and centered it to Huerta.

Huerta slid around Miles Robinson and beat Turner from near the penalty spot for his third international goal.

Pochettino, who was hired last month to replace Gregg Berhalter, led the Americans to a 2-0 win over Panama on his debut last weekend. He will play his first competitive games next month in the two-leg quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League.

Javier Aguirre won his second game since replacing Jaime Lozano as Mexico coach in August.
