BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Southeast Missouri men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams have been awarded the Ohio Valley Conference’s 2023-24 Team Academic Achievement Award, the league announced Tuesday morning.

The award means that all three teams achieved a grade point average of 3.25 or higher among all eligible athletes.

Southeast Missouri and Western Illinois had the second most teams on the list with three, only UT Martin (4) was better.

11 different institutions received at least one award for the 2023-24 season. In addition to the team award, the 2023-24 OVC Institutional Academic Achievement Award was also announced on Tuesday.

The overall institutional best performer award, given each year to the member institution that has the highest percentage of qualified student-athletes achieving a grade point average of 3.25 or higher during that academic year, was won by Southern Indiana, which received the award for the second consecutive year.

The awards cap off announcements regarding awards for the 2023-24 academic year. It was previously announced that 1,630 OVC student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll (for a grade point average of 3.25 or better), while 310 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, earning the OVC Academic Medal of Honor.
