Memphis Grizzlies vs Dallas Mavs: Match updates, live score

NBA basketball is back.

Specifically, the Memphis Grizzlies will play their first preseason game on Monday evening. More specifically, a (slightly) healthier version of the Grizzlies is in Dallas to face the Mavericks.

Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart are expected to share the floor in a game for the first time since January. This trio is partly why Memphis has high expectations for the Western Conference.

Jaren Jackson Jr. will be sidelined with a minor hamstring injury, but Grizzlies fans will get their first look at 7-foot-1 rookie center Zach Edey. There was a lot of buzz about Edey’s performance in the team’s first four training sessions. He could face two top NBA centers in Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford for the Mavs on Monday night.

Dallas will be without many of its star talents. Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson are expected to be inactive. Doncic is nursing a left calf injury, but Thompson and Irving are resting.

Other Grizzlies injured include Vince Williams Jr. (shin), Cam Spencer (ankle) and GG Jackson (foot surgery). They’re all out on Monday.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Sunday that starters should be expected to play anywhere from the high teens to low 20s in minutes.
