McInnes calls on Killie to be brave for Danish mission

Derek McInnes wants Kilmarnock to be “brave” against Copenhagen as his team looks to cause a surprise in the Conference League.

After his 1-0 win in Tromsø last week, McInnes has his sights set on another Scandinavian title in the first leg of the play-offs, where qualification will bring him a windfall of £4 million.

“We have no illusions about how difficult the task will be against a team that was in the Champions League last year,” said McInnes.

“I remember watching those games and the fact that the great Scott McKenna played for Copenhagen only increased my interest.

“I was impressed by the speed, athleticism and technical ability of the team – many of those players are still there.”

“Even though they are not in top form at the moment, it is still a big task for us to compete against such an opponent.

“But we are facing them and it is important that we have the bravery and courage to get through this.

“We are at full capacity at the club, including administratively, everyone is working at full speed. It is a challenge for such a small squad, but while we are in Europe it is important that we try to make the most of it.

“We’ve given fans some great trips and experiences, but this would be the best of all if we could beat an opponent like this.”
