McDavid scores for the first time of the season as the Oilers hold off the winless Predators

Filip Forsberg gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at 11:46 of the first period after Josi deflected a shot from the point.

“We have to find a way,” said Josi. “It’s difficult at the moment. Every little thing is important. It’s just one of those moments where we have to get involved in every little thing. We just have to play a little harder. Everyone still has a little more to offer and we just have to try a little harder to get our first win.”

Kulak tied the score at 17:39 of the first period with a slap shot from the point that made it through traffic to tie Edmonton at 1-1.

Jeff Skinner gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead at 10:50 of the second period with a shot from inside the goal crease that bounced off Predators defenseman Luke Schenn past Saros. The 32-year-old forward is in his first season with the Oilers after signing a one-year, $3 million contract on July 1. He has four points (two goals, two assists) in five games.

“I think every day and every game I’m getting more comfortable,” Skinner said. “I think I’ve felt better over time. I think the guys did a great job off the ice. I immediately feel welcome. Obviously there are a lot of people here who have been together for a while and have great chemistry. I think it’s going to be an adjustment when I step in to play off some of these guys, but I think it’s gotten better every time I’ve been out there.”
