Man dies in road accident when truck is discovered hours after collision

KAYSVILLE — One person died in a two-vehicle crash in Davis County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on State Route 177 near 200 North in Kaysville. A Chevy truck was traveling north when it left the highway and veered onto the right shoulder.

The driver crossed into the lanes on the shoulder. The driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. The vehicle came to a stop in the two southbound lanes.

At the same time, a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound in a lane and struck the Chevy, according to UHP. The Ford then continued down the highway for another 300 yards and exited to the right. The Ford continued through a fence and came to a stop after losing all power.

After the collision with the Ford, the Chevy was forced onto the right shoulder.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, they did not see the Ford leave the road. The driver of the Chevy was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The driver’s condition has not been released.

According to UHP, there were no witnesses to the accident.

At around 6:30 a.m., a person traveling south noticed the damaged Ford and alerted emergency services. When police arrived, they found that the driver of the Ford had already died.
