Luke Combs, Eric Church Plot benefit concert for North Carolina Aid

Billy Strings and James Taylor will also perform at the Concert for Carolina on October 26 in Charlotte

The first major subject Benefit concert to support storm relief in North Carolina has been announced. Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings and James Taylor will headline “Concert for Carolina” on October 26th at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. All proceeds from the concert will be split between Combs and Church – both of whom are from the Tarheel State – to be distributed to organizations serving areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Combs provides the funds raised to groups such as Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC; The church’s remaining funds will be distributed through its charity Chief Cares to organizations directly helping those affected by the storm.

According to a press release, the group of artists approached Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper about hosting a concert at Bank of America Stadium. With the Panthers playing the Broncos in Denver this weekend, the venue was available, setting the stage for the A-list lineup. Additional artists are expected to be announced, and Marty Smith of ESPN and Caleb Pressley of Barstool Sports will serve as presenters for the concert.

Both Combs and Church have spread the word about the flooding that has decimated the western part of their home state, particularly Asheville and surrounding communities. Combs, an Asheville native, first alluded to the benefit concert in a social media post late last month. “Absolutely heartbroken for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene. Especially my people in Western North Carolina. My team and I have made a few calls and I think we have something very special in mind to help the Carolinas as best we can,” he wrote on September 28th. “Further details will follow as soon as possible.”

On trend

On Friday, Church unexpectedly released new song “Darkest Hour (Helene Edit),” an anthem of steadfast help in times of need, and pledged all publishing royalties from the track to the state of North Carolina. “I spent six months in the mountains of North Carolina. It is a refuge for me, a place where I have always said my soul rests,” Church said in a video message. “Hurricane Helene came through and devastated it. There are places that have simply disappeared biblically.”

Tickets for “Concert for Carolina” go on sale Thursday, October 10 at 10 a.m. ET. For more information and to donate, fans can visit the event website at www.concertforcarolina.com.
