BATON ROUGE — Games between rivals LSU football and Ole Miss don’t need anything special to elevate the setting or significance.

But when Brian Kelly’s 10th-ranked Tigers (4-1, 1-0 SEC) face No. 8-ranked Lane Kiffin’s Rebels (5-1, 1-1), many consider this a pseudo-college football playoff -Play-in game between the two old SEC West opponents.

Both teams’ quarterbacks are making headlines ahead of the monster showdown. LSU junior signal-caller Garrett Nussmeier and Ole Miss senior quarterback Jaxson Dart are the two best players at their position in the conference, according to statistics.
