Love is blind star Hannah Jiles is aware of how she comes across when she talks to her fiancé Nick Dorka – and it’s a work in progress.

“I learned a lot, I learned that there are things I need to work on,” Hannah, 26, said on the Tuesday, October 15, episode of The Viall Files podcast. “For example, I am a very direct person. I know that, but I think my delivery is tough – and delivery is everything.”

Fans were introduced to Hannah in Season 7 of the Netflix dating show. She linked up with Nick, 29, and Leo Braudy in the pods. Hannah ultimately chose Nick and the couple got engaged before flying to Mexico together. However, when they returned to Washington DC, Hannah shared a list of red flags and made comments about Nick’s living conditions and cleanliness habits.

Many viewers questioned the duo’s compatibility as Hannah seemed mean when talking to Nick. Hannah insisted she thought about how she used her words while filming the series, but her eyes completely opened when she re-watched the episodes herself.

“When you see it, you think, ‘Gosh, that was really hard.’ So I learned to be kinder (and) work on my delivery,” she admitted. “Sometimes just because it’s the truth and you feel it doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud. Maybe think about it, think about delivery, be a little gentler.”

Hannah shared that the entire process helped her figure out what qualities she likes — and doesn’t like — in a partner. In her previous relationships, the reality star hasn’t had to deal with people calling her out on her words, but she wishes they had.

“I wish people had made me more aware of my s—,” she teased. “(With) previous partners…it’s definitely a problem. I’m a bit of a control freak. I like the things I like. I think sometimes in relationships they just let me do what I do and don’t really say anything. So it’s definitely a problem that I want what I want.”

She also acknowledged that conversations become even more difficult when it comes to marriage.

“I also don’t think I’ve ever discussed such serious issues where it was so direct and you had to talk about such serious things beforehand, so it’s a bit unique,” she recalls. “I’ve never been engaged or married, so these questions I’m asking are not typical things I would ask (in) relationships unless we’ve been together for a long time.”

Hannah added that she has “lots of room to grow, I’m trying, I promise.”
