The Clay County Soil & Water Conservation District will begin the 2024-2025 tree/shrub giveaway. Our goal is 2,025 trees in 2025.

There is a limit of 10 trees/shrubs per household/business. The event is open to all households and businesses in Clay County.

Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Applications are being accepted now through Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Trees will be ordered this fall and participants will be notified in the spring when they are ready for pickup. Pickup dates will be between February and May and will depend on weather and the nursery.

The seedlings will be ordered from Vallonia State Nursery, whose mission is to grow and distribute high-quality plant material for conservation plantings to Indiana landowners. Conservation plantings include plantings for timber, windbreaks, food and wildlife habitat, watershed and soil protection, restoration and education.
