A nationally ranked Texas high school football showdown is set for Friday night in the Houston area.

Galena Park North Shore heads to the road to take on district rival Atasocita in an annual battle of regional foes. This year both teams are in the national rankings.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Central Time and will be broadcast live on the NFHS Network (subscription required).

— OH GOD! Cameron Smith wobbles, then pulls a deep ball deep into the red zone to put the Mustangs inside the Atascocita 10 with six seconds left. What a turn of events.

– North Shore forces fourth down with 1:02 left and Atasocita sniffs the punt! North Shore takes over at the opposite 40-yard line with a minute to play and trailing by three.

– Atascocita has the ball in its own territory and will look to kill the clock with a three-point lead. This second half was a real goalless chess game.

– Big defensive stop for Atascocita with less than three minutes left! Caleb Bailey Let’s fly an incomplete pass downfield for fourth down. North Shore punches away to give Atascocita the ball with 2:34 left. North Shore has two timeouts.

— Four-star Oklahoma commit Tory Bluelock comes into play, the Atascocita crowd erupts and North Shore immediately calls a timeout. He’s averaging more than nine yards per carry this year, making him one of the best backs in Texas.

— SALES DOWN. Instead of a 40-yard field goal, Atascocita goes for 4th-and-109 and can’t complete a pass to QB Cardae Mack in the right flat. North Shore takes sole control of the 23 with about 11 minutes left in the game.

– Atascocita opens the fourth quarter with the ball traveling into North Shore territory.

– Atascocita’s Broderick Malone was ejected from the game for sideline antics. The senior is a 6-foot-3, 3-star receiver who has endured some costly penalties. However, his absence will be costly.

— Uh-oh. There has been a fight between both teams near the touchline and there is yellow laundry all over the field. The game has been paused while everything gets sorted.

— Cardae Mack is simply a devastating open-field runner. He continues to help Atascocita transform to bring the Eagles to the North Shore area.

– On the first play after the fumble recovery, Cardae Mack hits a long ball out of bounds Kyran Godfatherwho makes an impressive catch in double coverage. However, Pate began his route well before the snap and the play came back.

— FUMBLE! Kaleb Bailey tries to throw an option pass to D’Andre Hardeman and Atascocita’s Hector Arguetta recovers a fumble and the Eaglea take control in their own territory.

– Strong defensive position for Westlake. Lake Travis tries and misses a 48-yard field goal wide and narrow on fourth-and-long. Westlake takes over with 1:40 left in the half.
