Jake Retzlaff gave the Cougars an early lead on their first possession, rushing for a 4-yard touchdown to cap a six-play, 75-yard drive. BYU 7, Oklahoma State 0.

BYU gained 50 yards on the first play of the game thanks to a deep shot from Retzlaff to Darius Lassiter, who broke double coverage, made a diving jump and immediately brought the Cougars to the edge of the red zone.

9:42 – Ollie Gordon II ran for 166 yards and five touchdowns against BYU last season, and he’s wasting no time in his current attempt to torment the Cougars.

The Doak Walker Award candidate broke free on the Cowboys’ first possession with a 50-yard run into the end zone and finished the game with seven points each. BYU 7, Oklahoma State 0.

Gordon’s run marked the longest play allowed by the BYU defense all season.
