Lisa Marie Presley left her son under ice for two months before funeral, new memoir reveals | Ents & Arts News

Lisa Marie Presley kept her dead son on dry ice for two months before finally arranging his funeral, a new memoir reveals.

Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, left her 27-year-old son Benjamin Keough at her home instead of leaving him at the morgue after he died by suicide in 2020.

According to a memoir started by Presley and completed by her daughter, actress Riley Keough, 35, Benjamin was kept on dry ice because California has no laws dictating when a body should be disposed of.

Daisy Jones & the Six actress Keough said: “It was really important that my mother had enough time to say goodbye to him, like she had with her father.”

“And I would go and sit there with him,” NBC, the US partner channel of Sky News, quoted her as saying.

Presley wrote: “I think it would scare the hell out of anyone else to have their son there like that. But not me.”

The memoir goes on to recall how Presley and her daughter decided to get a tattoo that matched Benjamin’s body as his body lay in a room at 55°C.

“Lisa Marie Presley had just asked this poor man to look at her dead son’s body, which happened to be right next to us in the casitas. I’ve had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five. ” Keough wrote.
