According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has suspended Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams for two games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

According to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, the 23-year-old said he was disappointed in the situation but had “no choice but to make light of it.”

“I am in good spirits and ready to return to my brothers as soon as possible,” he said.

Williams was off to a great start in his third year in the league before the suspension. The 2022 No. 12 pick has the second-most receiving yards (361) and touchdowns (3) on the Lions behind star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Williams was a star in the college ranks but had a difficult start to his NFL career.

He played in just six games during his rookie season as he recovered from a torn ACL suffered in college at Alabama.

The suspension is also the second of his young career. Last season, he served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy after mobile betting on non-NFL games from a club facility. The ban was originally set for six games but was reduced to four.

Williams will now miss time again but will look to come back from the suspension and continue to help the Lions towards another successful season.

Detroit started the season 5-1 and handed its division rival its first loss of the season with a 31-29 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
