Linda Ronstadt endorses Harris; Trump holds rally in her music hall

Linda Ronstadt supported Kamala Harris while speaking out against Donald Trump’s planned rally at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson, Arizona.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday evening, the “Blue Bayou” singer wrote: “Donald Trump is holding a rally in a rented hall in my hometown of Tucson on Thursday. I would rather ignore this sad fact. But since my name is on the building, I have to say something.”

“It saddens me that the former president is bringing his demonstration of hate to Tucson, a city with deep Mexican-American roots and a cheerful, tolerant spirit,” she continued. Ronstadt explained that she not only “disapproves of his toxic policies, his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance – although those are true too.”

“For me, it boils down to this: In Nogales and along the southern border, the Trump administration systematically tore apart migrant families seeking asylum,” Ronstadt wrote. “The separation of families orphaned thousands of young children and babies and abused their desperate mothers and fathers. It remains a humanitarian disaster that meets the criteria for torture, according to Physicians for Human Rights. The grief it has caused cannot be forgiven or forgotten.”

The 11-time Grammy winner concluded her thoughts on the former president with a scathing remark: “Trump warned about rapists from Mexico during his first presidential campaign. I’m worried about how to keep the rapist out of the White House.”

“PS to JD Vance,” she added. “I raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mother. They are both grown and living in their own homes. I live with a cat. Am I half a childless cat lady because I am unmarried and have not given birth to my children? Call me what you want, but this cat lady will proudly vote for @kamalaharris and @timwalz in November.” The artist coupled her plea to Trump’s running mate with a photo of herself smiling while holding her pet.

Ronstadt isn’t the only famous singer to voice her support for Kamala Harris while criticizing Vance’s controversial comments that the U.S. is run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies.” Taylor Swift posted her “Childless Cat Lady” statement on Instagram on Tuesday following the Harris-Trump debate, after detailing why she’s voting for Harris.
