“I definitely think season four is the biggest season of all,” says Lily Collins about Emily in Paris, the hit series, which has just been renewed for a fifth season“It’s bigger and bolder and better and brighter, but I’m biased.”

What’s more, and cartographers take note, it’s not set exclusively in the City of Lights. While the series helped put a number of Parisian hangouts on the map for a new generation of Francophiles, this time it’s not staying exclusively in the region.

Darren Star, the series’ creator, notes: “This season exceeds all expectations. We filmed in Megève in the French Alps, home to Camille’s family’s ski chalet – and when we got there to start filming, it started snowing. We’re at the French Open. We’re in Chantilly, at the Polo Grounds. We’re in Rome. We’re in the Italian countryside. In terms of locations this season, every episode has something special.”

Here, City and country presents a short video for the new season of the Netflix hit (now streaming), in which the cast and crew give insights into the places they ventured to and how those places influence what fans see on screen.

Collins says: “This season, it was so much fun to be part of it in the fall and winter because we got to go to the base of Mont Blanc, which was incredible. The mountains are so stunning and scenic. It was so cold, but so beautiful. And to be able to think back to the first season when we first experienced Paris, then Versailles, then the Eiffel Tower, then Provence, then Mont Blanc and finally Rome? I never imagined that I would have this access and the opportunity to travel with this show and show different sides of France – and then we’re going to Italy this year? It still feels like an absolute dream.”
