The international break is a time when club managers say goodbye to their star players because they fear they have no control over how they treat these players. Players return with extra minutes on their feet and sometimes with knocks and strains that could rule them out of the next home games. And Ivan Jurić had to sweat for a week during which star striker Artem Dovbyk returned from the Ukrainian national team with knee inflammation.

Luckily for Roma, the Ukrainian bomber doesn’t appear to be worn out and is ready for Roma’s biggest game of the short Jurić era. Roma CT had some good news to share during their pre-match press conference.

“Dovbyk came back with a little pain but has recovered well in the last few days. He’s very good looking.”

Meanwhile, Roma’s biggest star and most dangerous player, Paulo Dybala, will be ready to play from the opening whistle, having not started since Athletic Bilbao’s Europa League game on September 26.

“Paulo spent some time working on his recovery so we could get him sorted. He has now had three or four very good training sessions. We will manage him in the different phases of the game. It depends on what he looks like, but both are completely fit. They’re both in good shape.”

Lorenzo Pellegrini is likely to join these two in attack. The Roma captain will be looking to put behind him a nightmarish international break that saw him receive a red card, which ultimately cost Italy two points in their Nations League game against Belgium.

Jurić also had good news about Roma’s midfield strength: both Enzo Le Fée and Leandro Paredes will be available for this game.

“Leo was the last to come back after a long journey. He’s better than yesterday, but he’s not at his best.

“I like Enzo. I like the way he works. I like his football intelligence. He has already played in teams with systems similar to ours. I think he’s improving every day. He needs to get fit again but will be a very useful player for us in the future.”

However, don’t expect either of them to be in the starting lineup as neither player will have the fitness to play extended minutes. Instead, Bryan Cristante and Manu Koné are expected to replace the newly appointed Niccolò Pisilli.

There is some debate when it comes to left wing-back in this lineup. There seems to be some uncertainty as to whether Angeliño will play as a left centre-back or full-back. If the Spaniard plays on the wing, Miguel Hermoso will play in defense alongside Evan Ndicka and Gianluca Mancini. If Angeliño plays as a central defender, Nicola Zalewski will play as a full-back opposite Zeki Çelik.
