The tears shed at Vice President Kamala Harris’ election night rally gave some Americans a sense of déjà vu.

Harris failed to defeat President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election, as the vice president became the second Democratic candidate in recent years to disappoint supporters who had expected to attend a historic victory party.

CNN’s election night panel realized the race was over when Harris campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond announced to those gathered at Howard University that Harris would not speak to his supporters on election night. His comments echoed 2016, when Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta briefly addressed a somber crowd before announcing she would not appear.

“This is not the sound of a large crowd, this is not a celebratory atmosphere,” said CNN’s Audie Cornish, before Dana Bash bluntly compared it to the scene from Clinton’s memorable 2016 Javits Center event.

Clinton wanted to break the proverbial “glass ceiling,” so she planned her election night party in a building with an actual glass ceiling. But instead of a celebration, the event became a gathering of angry, teary-eyed liberals.

Eight years later, it was a similar story in Washington, D.C., when Harris failed to address supporters at her would-be alma mater’s victory party.

HARRIS WILL NOT SPEAK AT HOWARD UNIVERSITY ON ELECTION NIGHT AS PLANNED

The satirical newspaper Babylon Bee published an article headlined: “Flood warnings issued as liberal tears continue to drench nation.”

“At the time of publication, the NWS spokesman predicted that there was no end to the downpour in sight due to media rumors that Hillary Clinton was considering another run for the White House while Chelsea Clinton was preparing for a future in politics,” joked Babylon Bee.

Outside the Harris victory party, which never became celebratory, a disappointed attendee left an American flag on the ground on the way home.

Harris plans to finally address the nation on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET at Howard University. A senior adviser to Harris told Fox News that the vice president called Trump on Wednesday before her speech to congratulate him on winning the 2024 race.
