Laurence Fishburne reveals his two favorite film roles

matrix star Laurence Fishburne reveals which films he has starred in are his favourites, and they are not what you would expect. In a career spanning over 50 years, Fishburne has appeared in no less than 100 film and television projects and has received numerous awards for his work on stage and screen, 16 trophies in total. He will next appear in the science fiction thriller Slingshotand Francis Ford Coppola’s Big city.




We discuss with ComicBook the upcoming release of SlingshotFishburne was asked which films he is most proud of that audiences may not know. That narrowed the field down quite a bit, as the 63-year-old has starred in a number of favorite films over the years, including matrix And John Wick Franchise companies, Boys from the area, Event horizonAnd infectionto name a few. Fishburne had a hard time choosing just one, but he revealed two of his films that his fans would love to rewatch if they had the chance.

“There’s a thing I did for HBO called
Always outnumbered, always inferior
which is based on a novella by Walter Mosely of the same title. There is another little gem of a film I made that I am not sure many people have seen. I also made another film for HBO called
Miss Evers’ boys
which dealt with the US government’s secret experiments on African-American men in the 1930s on the use of syphyllus and penicillin.

“We were fortunate that then-President (Bill) Clinton brought this to our attention. The US government even officially apologized to the victims of this experiment.”


Thanks to the advent of streaming Miss Evers’ boys – which won the Emmy for Best TV Movie in 1997 – is available as a stream on Max and is therefore easy to find. Unfortunately Always outnumbered, always inferior is not currently available on any streaming platform despite being an HBO original film, but the DVD is readily available on Amazon.


Laurence Fishburne shows no signs of slowing down


His career began in 1972 with the television film If you give a dance, you have to pay the bandYou might think that after more than 50 years, Fishburne would want to take a little break. However, this is not the case, as the award-winning actor currently has 10 projects in various stages of production. In addition to the above Slingshot And Big cityHe will also play the role of Alpha Trion in Transformers One later this yearEarand in 2025 he will appear in the spy thriller The Amateurand reprises his role as Dr. Bill Foster for the MCU in Thunderbolts.

One should also not forget his upcoming role in the Netflix hit series The Sorcererin which Fishburne will play the vampire Regis, a recovering blood addict who only drinks animals. Initial set photos have revealed his appearance, but at this point it remains to be seen how his character fits into the overall plot of the series’ penultimate season.


You can see Fishburne alongside Casey Affleck in her new film Slingshotwhich tells the story of an astronaut trying to lose touch with reality during a mission to one of Saturn’s moons. The film hits Bleecker Street theaters on August 30th, and you can watch the trailer below.
