Kristin Cavallari’s DMs are probably an absolute mess. The fact that she sent her 24-year-old boyfriend packing a few weeks ago must have made the mess even worse.

So you can’t really blame her for spotting celebrity chef Bobby Flay sliding into her DMs and assuming he’s looking for a date. That means it’s Bobby Flay, and even if you’re into the whole cougar thing and aren’t interested in the 59-year-old, you’re going to this dinner.

Instead, Kristin hit Flay with a stiff arm right in front of the goal. He brought up the rejection on her podcast, which he can’t admit to now, even though he originally tried to date her Let’s be honest.

“You and I had a situation. I literally came to Nashville for a day for a meeting. I asked myself, ‘Who do I know in Nashville?’ “So I DM’d you,” Flay said.

“I said, ‘I’m going to be in Nashville for one night. Can I invite you to dinner?’”

Innocent enough. A DM and an invitation to dinner. How could anyone understand this other than just a couple of adults eating together while one of them is out on the town?

Well, Kristin did. She’s probably gone through every other direct message she’s ever received and made some assumptions. Flay continued, “And you literally told me, ‘I’m already with someone.'”

The reality TV star turned business owner and podcaster had a different version of events. She said, “Or I was like, ‘I’m just done dating.’ I was burned out on dating or something.

That was Flay’s rejection. Remembering exactly how it went down, he replied, “No, you said, ‘I’ve already started seeing someone.’ And I said, ‘I just want to go to dinner with you.'”

Kristin assumed Flay wanted more than just dinner because, again, her DMs were an unmitigated disaster.

All’s well that ends well. The two had a nice dinner, no romance at all. Now he’s on the podcast and he’s trying to tell it like he’s not diving into DMs with any agenda.

As for Kristin, she hit him with a strong stiff arm to send him into the friend zone so she can, I assume, continue exploring the dating world as a cougar. A win-win situation for everyone involved, so to speak.
