Kobe Bufkin’s 31 weren’t enough as the Hawks lost the preseason finale 104-99 to the Thunder

The Atlanta Hawks were in Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder in their preseason finale. After canceling a game against the Miami Heat the night before, head coach Quin Snyder opted to place most of the starters outside of Dyson Daniels. This is a game where most of the reserve players had minutes and they made the most of it from the start of the game to the end.

The good news for the Hawks was that Onyeka Okongwu was available after missing most of the preseason while recovering from a toe infection. He started the first quarter strong and was able to score those first points for the team.

Kobe Bufkin also had some good plays in the first quarter, hitting a few three-pointers that went down.

The Hawks were able to start a run late in the quarter and Dyson Daniels was the difference maker, putting pressure on the Thunder’s offense while also doing the little things for the Hawks’ offense.

With all the work he did in the paint, Okongwu stepped to the perimeter in the second quarter and drained a three-pointer.

Mouhamed Gueye had his highlight in the second quarter when he beat Chet Holmgren with a dunk.

Bufkin continued his strong play in the first half, finishing the half with 18 points, three rebounds and two assists.

It was neck-and-neck between both teams early in the third quarter, and Bufkin continued to have a strong night, hitting several three-pointers. Garrison Mathews and David Roddy also got in on the fun.

Bufkin found Kevon Harris for this alley-oop late in the third.

The Hawks kept it close in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to win. Bufkin finished the game with 31 points, Roddy with nine points and 12 rebounds and Daniels with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Hawks open the regular season on October 23rd at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
