The Phoenix Suns started the 2024-25 season on a positive note with a 116-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in overtime on Wednesday.

It wasn’t the best night for the Suns’ stars, but they had just enough to prevail against James Harden and the Clippers, who will be without Kawhi Leonard as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Bradley Beal had 24 points. Devin Booker had a slow start to the night, but found his chance in the fourth quarter and finished with 15 points before being fouled.

Durant proved he is still more than capable of making final shots, making a jumper with less than 30 seconds left that tied the game and ultimately sent it into overtime.

In overtime, the tight battle continued back and forth before James Harden had a chance to score the equalizer with less than five seconds left. He hit the first but missed the second free throw, allowing the Suns to tie the game.

After claiming victory in the first game of a long season, fans celebrated the Suns for taking care of business in an intense first game of the year.

Harden could have ended the game with that 3-pointer, but instead Durant goes up the other side and puts the ball up 👀

There’s nothing like an overtime thriller to set the tone for the season, and that’s exactly what the Suns got on Wednesday.
