Kamala Harris mocks Donald Trump’s strange behavior at town hall

WASHINGTON — Video of Donald Trump bouncing around the stage for nearly 40 minutes to the beat of his musical playlist — from Luciano Pavarotti to the Village People, after a truncated town hall in a battleground state — raised more questions Tuesday about the president’s mental stability former president.

“I hope he’s doing well,” Trump’s Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, said in a post on the social media platform X.

After his campaign rally was interrupted by two medical emergencies, Trump canceled the event at the Pennsylvania town hall on Monday evening and called for the musical performance. He then described the spontaneous concert as a success.

“While we were waiting, we started playing music and just kept going. So different, but in the end it was a GREAT EVENING!” said the Republican presidential candidate on his platform Truth Social, referring to the medical treatment of the participants.

Almost every Trump event brings unusual moments, especially his rallies. Monday’s event near Philadelphia, where the 78-year-old Trump performed a semi-robotic dance and simply stood around as his playlist blared, gave supporters another opportunity to praise his unique style and opponents to continue to praise his mental stability to question.

Definitely an unforgettable experience.

“Let’s not ask any more questions.”

Although he canceled the town hall, Trump stood awkwardly amid the music, which ranged from Pavarotti’s “Ave Maria” to “Hallelujah” to “Nothing Compares 2 U.” He also moved his head and swayed his body to songs like “YMCA” by Village People and “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown.

Several organizations that monitor Trump’s public appearances played up the incident in Oaks, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. Many have repeatedly questioned the former president’s mental fitness.

“I don’t remember seeing anything like this three weeks before an election,” said an X post from Republicans Against Trump. “Trump is crumbling before our eyes. He’s going to lose.”

Kamala HQ, a Harris campaign crisis team, said: “Trump appears lost, confused and frozen on stage as several songs play for over 30 minutes and the crowd leaves the venue early.”

Trump advisers said Democrats left out the part about why Trump started the concert.

The Republican candidate stopped the town hall when an audience member succumbed to the heat. Shortly after the event resumed, a second audience member had a medical emergency and Trump decided to cancel the event, asking his producers to play music to lighten the mood.

“Let’s not ask any more questions, let’s just listen to music,” Trump said. “Let’s make it a musical. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?”

“Anyone else want to faint?”

In addition to the music, Trump told a few jokes to sweating supporters in a hot and crowded building with inadequate air conditioning. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican who moderated the pro-Trump town hall, remained on stage with him.

Trump assured the crowd that the two people would be fine, joking, “Anyone else want to faint?”

Previously, the former president said of the sweaty atmosphere: “I personally enjoy it – we lose weight, you know? … We can do it, lose four or five pounds, that’s fine with me.”

As Trump answered questions from supporters in the crowd, he confused the date of Election Day.

Things would go well “if everyone went out and voted on January 5th,” Trump once said; Election Day is actually November 5th.

The former president also told his supporters, “You know, (if) we win Pennsylvania, we win the whole thing.”

“The energy was incredible”

As the music session continued, Trump aides took to social media to promote the event.

“President Trump turned his town hall into a concert tonight and the energy was incredible,” national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X. “He is giving people hope in a way that no other politician is capable of.”

Democrats also spread the news about the strange event and the former president.

Rep. Eric Swalwell of California said on X: “This is very sad for our former president. Donald Trump appears to be brain dead. I hope his family steps in to get him help.”

Trump advisers said the swing-state audience loved his performance and accused Harris and Democrats of reacting violently out of fear of defeat.

“DESPERATE times call for desperate measures!” Trump adviser Dan Scavino Jr. said in response to Harris on X.

Many supporters’ decision to stay for the music seemed to surprise Trump.

“Nobody’s going away,” Trump said. “What’s up?”
