Roosters sharpshooter Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will miss the remainder of the regular season and one finals match after the experienced prop was handed a three-game suspension by the match review committee.

Waerea-Hargreaves had just returned from a four-game suspension for a high kick against the Dragons in round 18 and now faces another lengthy period of suspension after being charged with a second-degree negligent high tackle for his high kick on former teammate Sam Verrills.

The officials initially missed the high contact, but the bunker tipped off the referee, who sent the Roosters legend to the penalty box in the 10th minute.

He will miss three games if he pleads guilty early to his third and subsequent offense, and he will miss four games if he contests the charges and loses in court.

If he accepts the early exit, he will return for the club’s second final game, which could be a qualifier for the Grand Final if he wins the first game.

His teammates Victor Radley ($3,000) and Daniel Tupou ($1,000) were also offered fines for their high tackling offenses. Radley faces a two-game suspension if he fights back and loses.

Jesse Ramien was the only other player suspended for Sunday’s games. The Sharks center faces a one-game and two-game suspension after being charged with a second-degree negligent high tackle for his shot on Matthew Feagai, which resulted in a stint in the penalty box.
