Jordan Ayew: Leicester City signs striker from Crystal Palace

Leicester have signed Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on a two-year deal worth an initial £5 million.

Ayew, who has spent the last six years at Palace since initially joining on loan in 2018, will bolster the Foxes’ attacking options.

He made 212 appearances for Palace, scoring 23 goals, and came on as a second-half substitute in their 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Sunday.

The 32-year-old – whose transfer fee including add-ons could rise to £8million – joins Oliver Skipp as a new signing at the King Power Stadium after the midfielder joined from Tottenham for £20million earlier this week.

Leicester boss Steve Cooper had made it clear that he wanted to add more striker options to his squad.

“I’m very happy to be here and I’m proud. I want to thank the club because they fought hard to get me here – it happened quickly and I’m so happy to be here,” said Ayew.

“When you hear as a player that the manager wants you, it just makes you want to work under him and try to improve.

“Even though I’m 32, as a player you always want to learn and improve. I’m here to work hard and help the team achieve its goals.”

Newly promoted Leicester drew 1-1 with Spurs in their first game of the Premier League season on Monday. Jamie Vardy scored the equalizer.

The Foxes travel to Fulham for their next league game on Saturday (3pm BST).
