John Fetterman cancels election interview for “Daily Show.”

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, who was scheduled to appear virtually for an interview with Jon Stewart during the live election broadcast “The Daily Show” on Tuesday evening, canceled 30 seconds before his segment.

Stewart announced that the politician, who is currently holding court in his home state of Pennsylvania, would no longer appear for the scheduled interview with him.

“(Fetterman) couldn’t come to us,” Stewart announced after the show’s first commercial break. “But because we’re a professional and respected news show, it’s not like I have to just sit here … with no one to talk to or do nothing just because someone said 30 seconds before we were supposed to have them as a guest .”

“That’s not happening,” he continued, laughing nervously.

Instead, Arizona’s Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs called and reported that the state was just starting to see results since polls closed at 7 p.m. “It’s probably going to be a long night, probably several days, as we count the results of the votes,” she told Stewart and viewers in a video call.

The 2024 election has proven to be one of the closest races in recent history, with polls in key swing states heading for a close result between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. At the time of this article’s publication, media outlets declared Trump the winner of North Carolina, the first of the seven key swing states in the game.

Meanwhile, Harris’ campaign remains hopeful that she will prevail in the “blue wall” states – Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.
