Joe Buck says he can’t make marriage jokes about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

The first half of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints was full of excitement, from Derek Carr’s 43-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce’s cool side play, which Andy Reid said appeared to be planned. Kelce was on a roll in the first two quarters, hauling in a team-high eight catches for 67 yards, although he has yet to find the end zone.

ESPN analyst Troy Aikman perhaps got a little too excited when, after one of Kelce’s catches, the cameras panned to Taylor Swift in the stands and Aikman referred to her as “the woman.”

Aikman’s roommate, Joe Buck, gently corrected him and said, “You know they’re not married, right?”

Buck then hilariously revealed that his daughters had banned him from making any cheeky jokes on TV about Kelce and Swift’s possible marriage.

“I’m sure I’ll get in trouble for saying that,” Aikman said with a laugh.

“I mean, it happens,” Buck replied. “My daughters warned me several times today: ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t joke around.’”

Kelce and Swift have been together since the start of the last NFL season (and possibly earlier), but they haven’t tied the knot yet, despite what the tabloids seem to report about it every day. Aikman isn’t the first to make a mistake and accidentally call Swift Kelce’s wife, but he could take a cue from Buck and simply avoid the topic altogether.
