To make a statement, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on her wedding day.

According to a source, J.Lo filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on their second anniversary specifically to show the world that she is “a woman who follows her own path.”

Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, the second anniversary of the star couple’s wedding in Georgia. A month earlier, in July 2022, they eloped in Las Vegas.

She also filed the lawsuit “pro se,” meaning she represented herself and filed the suit without an attorney, a move that could be another sign that she is regaining control.

The separation date is April 26, 2024.

We’re also hearing that Lopez’s shopping spree last weekend in West Hollywood, California — during which the “Jenny From the Block” singer wore a glamorous black dress — was meant to show that she’s reclaiming her dignity. (Or, as they call it, revenge dressing!)

In July, the couple put their shared home up for sale for $68 million. Affleck paid $20.5 million in July for a villa in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Lopez spent her summer in the Hamptons riding her bike, celebrating her birthday without Affleck and hanging out with her longtime manager Benny Medina.

Meanwhile, Affleck was working on “The Accountant 2” in Los Angeles.

Earlier this month, a source told Page Six that Lopez felt “humiliated” and “frustrated” that the couple’s reconciliation had not worked out, especially since “she made such a big deal out of him being the love of her life.”

At the time, we learned that Affleck waited to file for divorce so as not to embarrass Lopez.

A source told People that the “Air” actor has “no interest” in mending their broken relationship.

“She is very disappointed and sad, but Ben has given her no indication that he wants to continue their marriage,” the insider said.

“He has shown no commitment or interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point where she just has to take care of herself.”

The couple has no children together, but a patchwork family from previous marriages.

“His kids are coping well, as are hers,” an insider told Page Six. “Everyone is ready to move on.”

Lopez has 16-year-old twins with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck has three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
