Jared Curtis retires as the No. 1 QB in the 2026 class

Nashville Christian quarterback Jared Curtis has retired from football at Georgia, according to a post on his X account, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.

Curtis committed to Georgia in March but decided to withdraw before the signing period began in December. His offers include Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, South Carolina, Miami and Oklahoma.

Curtis said he was still committed to Georgia last week after Nashville Christian’s 45-7 win over Columbia Academy.

“Sure (there are other schools reaching out), but right now we are still committed to Georgia,” Curtis told The Tennessean last Friday.

When Curtis was asked last week what he hoped to gain from conversations with other programs, he pointed to relationship building.

“I’m just still grateful,” he said. “Anything can happen, just building relationships with the coaches.”

According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound five-star standout quarterback is the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee for the 2026 class and the No. 1 quarterback in the country.

“The recruiting process was an exciting time and a big learning process for me,” Curtis posted on social media.

“This morning I spoke with Coach (Kirby) Smart and (offensive coordinator) Coach (Mike) Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia. But I would like to take some more time to explore all my options so that I can implement them.” The best and most informed decision for my future. I let them know that it just doesn’t seem right or fair to stay committed while I look at other programs. I want people to know where I stand, and I’ve learned that it’s important to make important decisions at the right time.”

Curtis told The Tennessean in August that he was still firmly committed to Georgia despite continued recruiting from other schools. USC and Lincoln Riley offered in June after Curtis left for Los Angeles and South Carolina remained present.

Curtis completed 106 of 156 passes for 1,624 yards and 18 touchdowns with three interceptions in seven games for Nashville Christian (6-1). Last year he threw for 2,522 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. As a freshman, Curtis led Nashville Christian to the Division II-A state championship game.

Curtis and Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre – a Tennessee commit – are two of the highest-rated high school quarterbacks from the Nashville area. And Curtis has taken advantage of his high recruiting profile by enlisting the services of sports marketing agency QB Reps and signing endorsement deals.

Nashville Christian will host Fayetteville to open Week 9 of the TSSAA football season on Friday at 7 p.m.
