Janet Jackson shares surprising revelation about her family tree

As far as famous relatives go, Janet Jackson’s family tree is *really* impressive.

At the performance on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast On the Aug. 13 show, the 58-year-old “Control” singer made a shocking revelation about her family history, revealing that she is related to the one and only Stevie Wonder. “He’s our cousin,” she told host Scott Mills, who seemed completely stunned. “Not a lot of people know that. He’s our cousin on our mother’s side.” Completely stunned.

But the Poetic Justice Alum did not stop there. Janet continued to say that she two more famous cousins. “That’s Tracy Chapman too,” she said, laughing. “That’s Samuel L. Jackson too. He’d be a cousin too. I mean, he’s not my brother.”

The Grammy-winning artist knows all too well what it feels like to have a famous family member – she is the youngest child of Katherine Jackson and the late Joe Jackson, who managed the careers of his children, including the Jackson 5 and her late brother Michael Jackson.

Janet spoke openly about her family dynamics in the 2022 Lifetime documentary. Janet JacksonIn the four-part series, the singer talked about how close she was to Michael and Randy during her childhood.

However, she noticed a change in her relationship with Michael during his thriller era. “For the first time in my life, I felt that something was different between us. That a change was taking place,” she said at the time.

The singer continued: “He would come into my bedroom and neither of us would say a word to each other. And then he would get up and leave. That was a time when Mike and I started to go our separate ways, we weren’t that close anymore. And maybe it was just because he was so massive, so huge.”

So, Janet is related to Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman And Samuel L. Jackson?! You could say that talent runs in the family.
