Jamestown man among four injured in rollover crash near Dunseith, ND – Jamestown Sun

DUNSEITH, ND — Four people, including a 27-year-old Jamestown man, were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash about two miles west of Dunseith on Thursday, Aug. 22, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

A 22-year-old man from Devils Lake, North Dakota, was driving east on U.S. Highway 281 with four passengers – the Jamestown man, a 23-year-old Dunseith man, an 18-year-old Dunseith woman and a 1-year-old toddler from Dunseith – in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado around 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch, the patrol said. The patrol said the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross both lanes and enter the north ditch, where it overturned and came to rest on its south-facing wheels.

Police said several passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Police also said none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts or other restraints.

All four passengers were injured in the rollover.

All passengers were taken to Quentin N. Burdick Hospital in Belcourt. Due to the severity of their injuries, several passengers were later flown by rescue helicopter to Trinity Hospital in Minot and Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

Police said charges had been filed against the driver.

The patrol investigates the rollover.

From the Jamestown Sun editorial report

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
