The NFL fined Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase $19,697 for unsportsmanlike conduct/violent gesture during a touchdown celebration during the Week 5 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

The touchdown was Chase’s first of two touchdowns in the game. He also caught a 70-yard reception from quarterback Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 10 catches for 193 receiving yards.

Fines for violent gestures at the start of the NFL season did not exceed $14,609.

Chase’s Bengals teammate Trey Hendrickson was fined $16,883 for attacking the passer in the fourth quarter because he landed full body weight on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Chase was fined $31,599 following the Bengals’ Week 2 loss to the Chiefs for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for arguing with official Alex Kemp.

Chase received two fines totaling more than $23,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct in September 2022.
