Deciding what to wear to a wedding can be a big challenge, especially if you’ve never been there before.

One woman shared a photo of the dress she chose for the occasion and asked if it was appropriate to wear – and people didn’t hold back with their comments.

On Reddit, she said she chose a stunning red ball gown with a plunging neckline.

She wrote: “First wedding guest.

“I have never been to a wedding, except as a child and at my own wedding.

“It’s black tie, all the men will wear tuxedos.

“The bride gave my husband permission to wear his tuxedo from our wedding

“I’m not sure if the attire is appropriate for a wedding.”

The woman shared that she “personally wouldn’t care” if a guest wore it to her own wedding as she had opted for a “semi-formal” dress code.

She added that she would have it shortened to make it fit better on the big day.

The comments responded quickly and many did not hold back with their answers.

One said: “It’s… a lot.”

“I’m just being honest. Please at least have it hemmed so it doesn’t look like a train.”

“Don’t get me wrong, you look AMAZING, wow!

“Perhaps you should save it for an important day when it is more appropriate to draw so much attention to yourself.”

Another added: “Way too much cleavage for a wedding.

“A girl wore a dress like this at my wedding and a lot of people were giving her sideways glances and whispering. She also had a few ‘mishaps’ throughout the evening.”

A third commented: “I think you need to rethink your role as a wedding guest.

“Wedding culture is pretty well established now and veterans will think you’re being petty.

“The wedding is for the bride, she has spent a lot of time Money and time to plan that party so you can enjoy it.

“Consider her feelings when choosing your outfit.”

Meanwhile, some people have pointed out that, according to old wives’ tales, wearing the color red means that you have “slept with the groom.”

However, one responded: “It’s SO outdated, nobody follows it.”

The wedding guest responded to the feedback and seemed happy to continue looking for an outfit.
