Constant snowfall is creating slippery driving conditions in the Denver area. And there is more snow on the way.

Alex Lehnert, First Alert meteorologist, says there’s a low pressure system stuck over southern Colorado and Oklahoma that’s delivering the most snow Colorado has seen this season: “It’s all part of the same storm system.”

Denver residents will see 1 to 3 inches more snow on Thursday.

“We expect nice snowfall,” says Lehnert.

There will be a short break on Thursday afternoon. Winter storm watches and warnings are in effect for southeastern Colorado.

Douglas and Arapahoe counties will see heavier snowfall.

“Tomorrow we will get another hit with the same system,” says Lehnert.

Southern Colorado will see the most snow from this storm. Lehnert says 20 inches is forecast for Trinidad. In Denver, another 10 inches of snow could fall in some parts by Saturday morning, with the southern part of the city hardest hit.

Some ski resorts had difficulty opening due to warm temperatures and lack of snow before this storm. Now Eldora opens Thursday. Copper Mountain, Breckenridge and Winter Park open tomorrow. Loveland’s grand opening is scheduled for Saturday.
