It will be much warmer and drier in Denver on Wednesday

DENVER – There will be mostly clear skies across the state this evening. Overnight lows will fall into the mid to upper 30s across Colorado’s northern plains, which will bring some frost Wednesday morning.

After a very brief cooling, temperatures will rise again in the middle of the week. We will have winds in the upper 70s to lower 80s on Wednesday and mid 70s on Thursday, along with gusty winds. Due to warm, above-average temperatures, strong southwest winds and low humidity levels, fire danger will increase across eastern Colorado.

Finally it looks like we’ll see some much needed moisture at the end of the week! A winter-like storm will move across Colorado Friday and into the weekend. So far it looks like there will be some snow in the mountains and rain for the Denver metro. The closer the storm gets, the better we can assess the exact timing, trajectory and total rainfall.

There will be significantly cooler temperatures through the end of the week and this weekend. With mostly cloudy skies, look for highs in the 50s and 60s.

It’s been a while since it rained in Denver. Rainfall will occur on Friday for the first time since September 22nd. The Front Range is parched and we desperately need water!

This storm moves out of the metro on Sunday, and sunshine and warmer weather return early next week.
