iPhone 16, iOS 18, Apple Watch and more expected

The countdown timer has almost reached zero: Apple’s biggest event of the year is about to begin. We’re expecting a host of new devices, including the iPhone 16 series, new Apple Watch models, and new AirPods — and maybe even a few surprises. Apple will reintroduce its updated iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence features to the world after first showing them off in June. The company’s “It’s Glowtime” event kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, but Engadget’s Cherlynn Low and Billy Steele have already started reporting live from the event. Stick around for the next few hours as live updates from Apple Park continue before, during, and after Tim Cook takes the stage. Need more information? Prepare for all the news with our detailed preview, and open a second screen to watch the iPhone 16 event live.

  • Will AirPods Max get an update?

According to Mark Gurman (who was recently a guest on the Engadget podcast), the AirPods Max could also receive their first update since their launch in late 2020.

If that’s true, it will be interesting to see whether Apple positions this as a true next-gen product or just a slight refresh. The company chose the latter route when it switched the AirPods Pro from Lightning to USB-C last year.

  • No Apple Watch Ultra 3 today?

That’s the latest from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, according to his X/Twitter feed last night.
