Published: October 10, 2024

Bartow, Fla. (Oct. 10, 2024) – As the weather becomes clearer this morning, it is important that you stay indoors and avoid travel. Polk County is just beginning to examine roads for safety risks. Help your fellow Polk County residents by staying off the roads. We will keep you updated as conditions improve and recovery efforts begin.

Please do not call 911 unless your situation is life-threatening; Emergency calls are currently being assessed for urgency to determine priorities during the event.

The Polk County Emergency Management Department encourages residents to use the Citizen Information Hotline to answer questions about Hurricane Milton. Call the Citizen Information Line at (863) 298-7500 (local) or toll free at (866) 661-0228.

While the Citizen Information Line cannot help you with power outages or utility issues, it can provide you with information to help you plan for hurricane recovery.

Check your local news media for the most up-to-date information. For current information, visit the county website at www.polk-county.net. Additional emergency information can also be found at www.facebook.com/polkcountyem and www.twitter.com/polkemergency.
