Inactive players at the New York Jets game against the Tennessee Titans

Head coach Robert Saleh’s Jets are a third of the way down the stretch after a cross-country trip, an opening night loss in San Francisco and then a flight home this weekend, arriving in Nashville, Tennessee to begin their season against the Titans (kickoff 1 p.m. ET). The game features several key storylines:

■ Aaron Rodgers said after the 32-19 loss to the 49ers: “We expect big things when we step on the field.” Can the Jets QB lead the offense to that high level while captain CJ Mosley and the Jets’ strong defense return to their NFL top-five form of the last two seasons?

■ Which Tennessee team will play in its home opener? The Titans have a 13-22 record from 2022 to date. In their season opener last week, they jumped out to a 17-0 lead thanks to second-year QB Will Levis, their defense held Chicago rookie QB Caleb Williams’ offense to 148 yards, but two second-half return TDs led the Bears to their 24-17 victory.

■ Will the Callahan regime dash the Jets’ expectations and get off to a delayed, flying start of its own? Brian Callahan is the Titans’ first-year head coach and offensive playmaker, and his father, Bill Callahan, is the offensive line coach. And among the many NFL teams his father has coached is the Jets, for whom he was the assistant head coach/OL coach from 2008-11.

■ How will the teams weather the storm? The area around Nissan Stadium is expected to see scattered rain showers this morning and throughout the game, although it was sunny during the pregame warm-up.
